This meme is hosted by Breaking the Spine

Goodmorning guys ! I know, I know.. it has been a while. I was really busy at work the last couple of weeks and the time I had left I wanted to spend with my books and my husband. But for now, things have slowed down a bit, so I have some breathing room to get back to everything !

But well, let's get back on topic. It is a new Wednesday, so this means another waiting on ! I noticed this one yesterday when I was on Goodreads, and I immidiately thought of this meme ! So here it is !

The Library of Fates by Aditi Khorana
Release Date. 18th of July 2017

A romantic coming-of-age fantasy tale steeped in Indian folklore, perfect for fans of The Star-Touched Queen and The Wrath and the Dawn

No one is entirely certain what brings the Emperor Sikander to Shalingar. Until now, the idyllic kingdom has been immune to his many violent conquests. To keep the visit friendly, Princess Amrita has offered herself as his bride, sacrificing everything—family, her childhood love, and her freedom—to save her people. But her offer isn't enough.

The unthinkable happens, and Amrita finds herself a fugitive, utterly alone but for an oracle named Thala, who was kept by Sikander as a slave and managed to escape amid the chaos of a palace under siege. With nothing and no one else to turn to, Amrita and Thala are forced to rely on each other. But while Amrita feels responsible for her kingdom and sets out to warn her people, the newly free Thala has no such ties. She encourages Amrita to go on a quest to find the fabled Library of All Things, where it is possible for each of them to reverse their fates. To go back to before Sikander took everything from them.

Stripped of all that she loves, caught between her rosy past and an unknown future, will Amrita be able to restore what was lost, or does another life—and another love—await?

I'm intrigued.. and well, I just love the cover haha.

In this modern day spin on Leroux’s gothic tale of unrequited love turned to madness, seventeen-year-old Rune Germain has a mysterious affliction linked to her operatic talent, and a horrifying mistake she’s trying to hide. Hoping creative direction will help her, Rune’s mother sends her to a French arts conservatory for her senior year, located in an opera house rumored to have ties to The Phantom of the Opera.

At RoseBlood, Rune secretly befriends the masked Thorn—an elusive violinist who not only guides her musical transformation through dreams that seem more real than reality itself, but somehow knows who she is behind her own masks. As the two discover an otherworldly connection and a soul-deep romance blossoms, Thorn’s dark agenda comes to light and he’s forced to make a deadly choice: lead Rune to her destruction, or face the wrath of the phantom who has haunted the opera house for a century, and is the only father he’s ever known.

About A.G. Howard.
A.G. Howard was inspired to write SPLINTERED while working at a school library. She always wondered what would've happened had the subtle creepiness of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland taken center stage, and she hopes her darker and funkier tribute to Carroll will inspire readers to seek out the stories that won her heart as a child.

When she's not writing, A.G.'s pastimes are reading, rollerblading, gardening, and family vacations which often include impromptu side trips to 18th century graveyards or condemned schoolhouses to appease her overactive muse.

But well, let's get back on topic. It is a new Wednesday, so this means another waiting on ! I noticed this one on NetGalley and I just love the discription ! It sounds a bit like the His Fair Assassin series by Robin LaFever, and I LOVED that series.

Top Ten Tuesday 10.01.17.

This meme is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish

Good afternoon everybody ! Sorry, normally I post sooner, but I had a very busy morning away from my desk, so it wasn’t possible until now.

So let’s get started right away. This week’s Top Ten Tuesday had a great topic, namely Top Ten 2016 Releases We Meant to Read But Didn't Get Around To (But TOTALLY plan to). It never gets old, every year I’ve seen releases come by, maybe bought the book, but didn’t have the time to read it !! This year is no different and I have a ton of books I wish I’d read already, but didn’t. And of course I plan on reading it this year.. but who knows how that will end. But let’s stay positive and say that I will read all of these books this year !!

I’ve made the list based on the release date, so the sooner it was released, the higher it is up the list.

Release Date. December 23rd 2014
Standalone/Series. First novel in the Starcrossed series

Like the characters they were playing, Cassie and Ethan's romance seemed destined. Until he broke her heart and betrayed her trust. Now the A-list heartthrob is back in her life and turning her world around. One touch at a time.

Cast as romantic leads once again, they're forced to confront raw memories of the heartbreaking lows and pulse-pounding highs of their secret college affair. But they'll also discover that people who rub each other the wrong way often make the best sparks.

Review.
This is one of the books that I’ve had in the back of my mind of months, thinking about it every now and then when I decided what to read next, but I never got to it. Until now !! After the disappointment of November 9 I was still in the mood for something highly emotional and tragic, so I hoped this one would do better.
It did.. to some extent.

I loved how fast I flew through the biggest part of the book, she has a very compelling writing style.

I kept thinking about the book even when I was busy with other stuff. How would it continue, and what is their story, what happened between them in the past?

I also liked the sexual tension at the beginning. It was cracking! Later on, I got more irritated by that, but I liked how she managed to create such tension on the pages of a book.

Even though I liked how compelling she wrote, I did not like the setup of the story. She switched between past and future rather abruptly. Every time I got invested in one part, she pulled me away from it and time jumped me back into the other one. It took me a while to get back into that one, and that kind of sucked. It also felt kind of random, like there was no logical order to these time jumps.

I did not really like the MC. In the beginning she seemed kind of interesting, even though she never really went through anything tragic, it was refreshing and she seemed nice. But well.. I got to be honest, I did not like how horny she was the entire book long. Like get over it, WE KNOW. Plus she was kind of pushy, coaxing Ethan into having sex even though he explained it would be a bad idea.. and then act all surprised when it does end bad. DUUUH.

And let me not even get started on Ethan. What a jerk. For me, he was not a sexy bad guy, he was an asshole. He was mean and said some stuff that made me really angry. You don’t say those kind of things if you love someone. I would have left you Ethan !! Without a doubt.
But Cassie didn’t.. and that made me even more angry with her as well.
And his sudden past tragedy seemed kind of overused? Like through it in there as well, maybe that way people will understand him better? Well no. Still not an excuse.

You know, there is a difference between love and lust. And I have to admit, this felt more like an insta-lust kind of romance, than that they really loved each other. All she kept talking about was how hot he was, how sexy he was, how great he (and certain parts of him) looked.. but did they really know each other beyond that? It did not feel like a believable romance to me.
And not only that, but it also felt kind of toxic. They did not have a healthy relationship, it was bad and dysfunctional.

And WTF with that ending? It was really weird. To me it felt like we needed another chapter to finish it, but then it ended rather abruptly. Can I even call it a cliff-hanger??
I disliked how some questions weren’t answered yet, like how they really broke up? It felt like we were working towards that, but she didn’t even reveal that.

I really dislike that I did not love it as much as I wanted to love it. I did feel invested in the MC at the beginning, but later on I stopped and got more annoyed with her and her behaviour. I did not really find their story very romantic, but more like two teenagers/adults (depending on the time)lusting after each other in a bad and dysfunctional way. This book was one big tease and I’m not really sure if I want to continue with this series.

Rating 2.5

This meme is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish

Good morning everyone ! Best wishes for 2017 to all of you !! I hope this year will be an amazing year full of health, love and of course, lots and lots of books !

So let’s get started right away at this first Top Ten Tuesday of the year 2017 ! This week’s topic is Top Ten 2017 Debuts I’m Excited For !! Luckily, even though I have a lot of books I’m looking forward to, there are not that much debuts. Some get a lot of attention so I know they will come out, but there is still a lot out there that I don’t know of. And hell, some that are hyped fail anyway. It is always a question whether or not the debuts will be good in contrast to the authors we already know and love.

But well, the following books/authors I’m very curious about. I’ve made the list based on the release date, so the sooner it is released, the higher it is up the list.
