SUMMARY.
Libby Garrett is addicted to Owen Jackson's hot lovin'. But the sexy, popular college basketball player doesn't appreciate all of Libby's awesomeness. He refuses to be exclusive or even admit to people that they're dating. The relationship is ruining Libby and she's the only one who can't see it.
When Libby's behavior spirals completely out of control, her best friend Avery Shaw and the rest of the Science Squad stage an intervention hoping to cure Libby of her harmful Owen addiction. They put her through her very own Twelve Step program--Owen's Anonymous--and recruit the help of a sexy, broody, hard as nails coffee man to be her official sponsor.
...
Adam Koepp has watched Libby Garrett for years. How could he not notice the sassy girl with the purple skateboard and helmet plastered with cat stickers? But in all the years he's crushed on her, Libby has failed to take notice of him. Why would she when he was just a nobody high school dropout who served her apple cider several times a week? Especially when she was hooking up with a guy like Owen Jackson--a guy with a college scholarship and more abs than Kyle Hamilton.
Adam finally gets the chance to meet Libby when his co-worker Avery Shaw recruits him to take Libby on the journey of a lifetime. With his ability to play Bad Cop and his experience with the Twelve Step program he's the perfect candidate to be Libby's sponsor. But will he be able to keep his personal feelings out of the matter and really help her the way she needs? And will Libby hate him when he forces her to take an honest look at herself?
STANDALONE or SERIES.
This is the second part in the Science Squad series, loved the first one, and I hope that there will come a third eventually.
WHY this book.
Because I LOVE everything Kelly Oram. Even though the stories might not be the most complex, the way she writes is very addictive. She gets you right in the story and makes you feel right along with the characters. When they are happy, I’m happy, when they are upset, I’m upset. Kelly Oram just has something magical about her way of writing.
FIRST THOUGHTS.
She did it again !! I fell in love with this book and the characters right away and could not put it down. I had to stop myself at night from reading to long, because I had to work again in the morning… Thinking one more chapter, just one more.. Haha, it never stays at one more chapter. Hate that it is over so fast.. want more books !!
PLOT.
This second instalment is about Libby and Adam. Libby we all know well from the first part, the best friend of Avery and part of the science squad. She has a very sparkly and eccentric personality that puts a smile on your face right away.. only problem being that she is involved with Owen, for over a year and he does not treat her well. He is ashamed of her looks and does not want to acknowledge their relationship in public (not even in front of Avery and Grayson). This has changed Libby a lot, made her much more insecure and has abandoned her friends. They are done with Libby’s behaviour and plan an intervention to stop Libby from seeing Owen. Avery asks Adam for help, since he has done this kind of thing before. What she does not know is that Adam has had a crush on Libby for ages.. He starts helping her in a 12 step plan to get over her Owen addiction and get to know each other a lot better, giggle.
I loved this book, it is written so easily that you read right through it. It was fast paced and full of humour and drama. Oké the plot itself is not very deep or anything and everybody has their feelings on their sleeves.. but it was just a nice light read and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
ROMANCE.
The romance was totally sexy and hot ! They had sooo much passion going on ! And not just that, but mainly Adam’s feelings for Libby affected me a lot. I hurt along right with him when she stood him up for the prom, so sad !! I loved how you saw them growing together more, and him trying to make her feel special. Just because she is bigger does not mean that she can’t be loved, and I really liked that. They were totally cute together !! And.. Libby reallu deserved someone who really sees her for who she is, beautiful.
SETTING.
It is set in the same town and coffee shop as in The Avery Shaw Experiment, only this one takes us more to the slopes and skate park. Really liked how she intertwined those sports with the story and made it more fun.
Some heavier topics were in here as well, such as how people treat “fat” people, dealing with an addiction in the family, taking care of your sister and stuff. Even though these are though topic’s, she made them lighter and us readers more aware of these problems.
CHARACTERS.
I just loved them all !! Libby was such a great fluffy person, great and crazy chick ^^ Adam was so intense and loveable, like a lost puppy you just want to take in. Avery was just Avery again, always looking out for others. We got to know Libby’s parents a little better, just as Adam’s sister Kate. Must be though to see your brother sacrificing so much for you, so you can have it better.
FAVORITE.
I have to go for Adam, I really loved him. He was so intense and sexy, purr. I loved how direct he was, saying it just the way it was. He really wanted to help her, and make her feel beautiful again. Just an amazing guy.
LEAST FAVORITE.
Easy one, Owen. I really hated how he treated her !! Just because she is bigger does not mean you can just treat her without respect. Every woman deserves that, not just the pretty ones. Even after she gave him another change he blew it right away !! He is such a Gluteus maximus !!
THE BAD.
I would have liked a little more of the others in there, more of the Science Squad. Of course this book was about Libby and Adam, but I really missed them in this book.
FAVORITE QUOTES.
And now I understood that I didn’t just want love and respect, and a relationship. I wanted those things with a guy who wanted them, too. Not just any guy: I wanted Adam. Specifically.
.
It was the softest, sweetest kiss I’d ever had. It may have even been the first sweet kiss I’d ever had. It didn’t ignite my lust the way I’d always thought a kiss should, but surprisingly, it was more impactful. Instead of burning in my belly, it calmed me and warmed my heart.
.
When we pulled apart we could hardly breathe, but neither of us was willing to let the other go just yet. We held each other until we caught our breaths, and I used the moment to say something I’d known for years but had never admitted out loud before. “I love you, Libby Garrett.”
Her eyes twinkled, and she brought her lips back to mine. “I love you, too, Adam Koepp.”
I chuckled. “I wasn’t sure you knew my real name.”
She shrugged, her arms still around my neck. “It seemed like an appropriate time to use it, but you’ll always be my Coffee Man.”
FINAL THOUGHTS.
LOVED IT. This is not a book you should take too heavy, because it isn’t. It is a light read and you should treat it as such. If you do that you will have a lot of fun reading this one. After you’ve read the first book of course !! Sooo I would like to give this book 4.5 Freyja’s, because it was an emotional read for me that I could not put down. Great for in between some heavier reads !
