Top Ten Tuesday. 20.12.16.

This meme is hosted by The Broke and theBookish

Good morning everyone ! I’m currently enjoying my time off from work, but made some time for you guys between my having fun with my husband and doing absolutely nothing ! I went to Amsterdam yesterday and got some awesome stuff. Also visited the local bookstores, like The American Book Centre (they had such a great collection and Waterstones (a bit too expensive) and dribbled all over the awesome books they have there !! Unfortunately I’m a bit low on cash, so I did not buy much.. Only three books !! (see my Instragram liz_freyjaeatsbooks)

But back on topic, I have another Top Ten Tuesday for you today! This week I have a list for you guys with Ten Books That I Wouldn’t Mind Santa Leaving Under My Tree. So as you might guess, I had quite the luxury problem this week (and you probably too if you participate). There are so many books that I wish were under my tree, you could fill an entire room XD But I managed to narrow it down a bit to 10 books.. pat on the back for me ^^
So, this list is completely random, I can’t choose which I want more, that is too much to ask !

One. Heartless by Marissa Meyer.
I deliberately put off buying this book so I had something special for on my Christmas list. Even though I normally buy mostly paperbacks, I really want this one as a hardcover. It looks so gorgeous, I just want it looking all beautiful and pretty on my shelve at home. I loved her The Lunar Chronicles series, and I am a big fan of fairy-tale retellings. Combined with all the positive reviews I’ve seen I can’t wait to unpack this one !!

Two & Three. A Darker Shade of Magic & A Gathering of Shadows by V.E. Schwab.
I’ve seen so much of this series come by and always had it in the back of my mind to pick up one day, but so far I never did. So now that the third book will be released in this upcoming year, I really need to get started on it. And well, it all sounds so amazing with magicians and parallel universes..

Four. The Serpent King by Jeff Zentner.
I did not really know much about this book until recently, but I heard so many good things about it that I now want to have it. So give me.

Five. Bad Romeo by Leisa Rayven.
My little niece (I say little, but she is way taller than I am even though she is 8 years younger.. But still, she is much younger so screw that, she is my LITTLE niece) read this book a while ago and was gushing about it afterwards.. so I mentally put it at the top of my to-read list, except that in the end I still haven’t read it. That needs to change, so leave it under my tree Santa !

Six. Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys.
This is one of those books that you know you will love and have seen everybody raving about, but just haven’t gotten to. It is in the back of my mind, but every time I think about buying it, the price is too high or I’m not really in the mood for it. This should change, I should get it (or receive it) and get it over with.

Seven. United by Melissa Landers.
I loved the first two books, but still haven’t gotten to this one. I want to read it.. but if I buy it I have to buy the other two as well (I only have them as e-books), and I still think it is too pricy to as an e-book right now.. So I just keep hoping it will be on sale.. But so far no luck XD Hopefully Santa will help me out ;)

Eight. Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo.
I’m still in debate with myself about finishing the Grisha series, I’ve read the first two books, but I’ve kind of lost my interest.. But I already got the Six of Crows and I want to get started on that one soon. Butttt it would be better if I had this one as well so I can finish them after each other. But, I’m not sure if it matters that I haven’t finished the Grisha series? Does it have an influence on this series?
Because of the doubts about that I keep putting it off !! While I see much more positive reviews about this series.. Sometimes I get so annoyed with my own indecisiveness!!

Nine. The Lies of Locke Lamore by Scott Lynch.
Also one of those books that you see everybody go crazy about. So I should get it so I know what all the fuss is about and I can join the craziness !!

Ten. In the Afterlight by Alexandra Bracken.
I LOVED The Darkest Minds, I needed to be hugged by my husband afterwards for like half an hour before I felt like myself again. It was really good. But I never continued. Meanwhile it has been two year since I read it.. and I should start over from the beginning and just binge-read this series. But for that, I need the last book. So I can close this series. Please.

I hope you liked my Top Ten, which books do you hope to find Santa left under your tree? And maybe you have some recommendations for me on which books I really really should read?

  3. Oh, some great books on your list! I'm hoping to find Heartless under my tree as well -and you're right, the harcover of this looks amazing! I just finished A Gathering of Shadows and I LOVE THIS SERIES SO MUCH! So I hope you'll enjoy it! :)
And Crooked Kingdom is amazing as well! I don't think you need to finish the Grisha trilogy before starting SIx of Crows as it's a completely different story. There are a few cameos (but if you read book one and two you will get them) and the only thing is that you may be spoiled just a little for the ending of the Grisha trilogy (in case you would ever still want to read book 3). But really there are no big issues - you're good to dive right in to the world of Six of Crows :)

  4. Crooked Kingdom seems to get so much love I probably need to try those. And I love that cover of In The Afterlight.
