Top Ten TUESDAY 19.04.16.

This meme is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish

Good morning everyone !! Welcome to another Top Ten Tuesday on this beautiful day ! The sun is shining and the weather keeps getting better, more and more flowers start to bloom.. Ohh how I love Spring. It also means, now that we have a house with a garden, that we have started on this gardening thing. It is all kind of new to us, but we try our best ! But.. I have so much pain in my muscles from working in the garden last weekend haha.

So, this week the topic for the Top Ten Tuesday is Books That Made You Laugh. I will admit right away.. I’m not much of a laughing out loud kind of person. Now I do find things funny, but for me, that does not mean I start laughing. Maybe I snort a little, or just.. smile. When I laugh it is mostly because I’m happy or when something is really REALLY funny, but most of the time I just smile. So for me, this week it will be The Top Ten Books That Made Me Smile. Except that I only have nine.. But well, it can happen. So as usual, in no particular order !!

The Others series by Anne Bishop. I love how in this series the Others sometimes don’t know how to deal with humans. They are very scary and definitely not someone who you want opposing you.. But some situations are so funny !

Vlad watched them go, relieved he didn’t have to make this decision on his own. A pack of human females and some Crows in a building full of things to buy. He sat back and sighed. “And humans think vampires are scary.”

Holding Court by K.C. Held. It might not have been the most deep or thoughtful book I’ve read.. but it had so many funny situations !! Really liked reading this one.

“I’m calling Hank,” she tells me after I give her my version of the whole disappearing dead body thing.
“What? Why? What do you expect him to do?”
“Well, people are dying inside his castle, surely he ought to do something?”
“Don’t worry, I’ll be fine. Gran gave me a stun gun.”
“Oh God. Please tell me you’re joking.”
“Nope. I’m all set.”

Charley Davidson series by Darynda Jones. I love the main character so much from this series, she is so funny and does the most crazy things. This quickly has become one of my favorite series !

“As far as superpowers went, if a vengeful madman hopped up on 24-Hour Sudafed and wielding a broadsword named Thor’s Morning Wood ever attacked us, we were screwed. Six ways to Sunday.”

How Willa Got Her Groove Back by Emily McKay. Such a nice quirky book, really liked it ! I finished it in no time, and had a lot of fun reading this one.

“Oh, I can’t actually see the color of his eyes. It’s too dark for that. But his eyes are definitely blue. Guys like this always have blue eyes. The better to pierce our souls with.”

Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs. LOVE this series, Mercy is such a great character, so funny and sarcastic !

“I know right?” I said, swallowing hastily. “I had that same moment of disbelief. But for me it was when he threw his finger at me, and it burned through the top of the Passat I was standing on.”
She was silent for a moment, looking at the burn on my cheek.
Maybe I shouldn’t have said anything about the finger, but it kept coming up in my thoughts. I’ve never had a finger thrown at me before. A new-and-improved addition to my creepy-hall-of-fame nightmares.”

These Vicious Masks by Tarun Shanker and Kelly Zekas. Oh how I loved the main character, she was so sarcastic and witty, I kept snorting because of her remarks. Such a great start of a new series !!

“Why don’t—” He stopped abruptly and took a breath. “Normally I’m good at being polite, but with you, I have to try very hard.”
“Were you trying very hard the two times you’ve compared me to a prostitute today?”

Immortal Beloved series by Cate Tiernan. The further I get in this meme, the more I realise I really have a thing for sarcastic main characters. But I just love sarcasm and the funny situations it creates.. more my kind of humor I suppose. But well, this series is also really great and full of an awesome main character, who, guess what, is also very sarcastic.
“I can't help who I am," I pointed out. "i mean, do you think I should just hide?" I tapped one finger against my chin. "Gee, if only there was some place, some safe place, like in the middle of freaking nowhere, where I could surround myself with strong immortals and maybe learn how to protect myself and...oh, wait!" I looked at Solis, my eyes wide with excitement. "Oh my God--that sounds like here! It sounds like I'm already actually doing exactly what you thing I should be doing! Awesome!”

1-800-Where-R-You series by Meg Cabot. Also a very funny series, the main character just gets into situations that are beyond creative. I read right through the whole series.

“Who-who are you?" Seth asked, hesitantly."Wh-what do you want?" How else was was I supposed to reply? The words were out of my mouth before I could stop them.I mean, I'd only seen the movie like seventeen times.
"I'm Luke Skywalker," I said. "I'm here to rescue you.”

Georgina Kincaid series by Richelle Mead. Oh how I loved this series, such great main characters and.. I’m totally repeating myself. Haha. But well, there are so many great series !! With great main characters.. I just can’t help myself.

“Lucky Charms?” I asked.
“Magically delicious,” he explained. “Requisite for any sort of building project.”
I shook my head, still amazed at how he had managed to weasel his way over here. “This isn’t a date.”
He cut me a scandalized look. "Obviously. I’d bring Count Chocula for that.”

So how about you ? What books made you laugh (or smile) ?
