FRIDAY 56 & Book Beginnings 10.06.16.

Friday 56 is hosted by Freda’s Voice and Friday Book Beginnings by Rose City Reader.

Good morning everybody !! I love fridays haha, Always the weekend to look forward to ^^ I hope that maybe we can catch a movie this weekend.. I would love to see Now You See Me 2 and the new Alice.. But well, the weather has been great the last couple of days, so to hide in a dark theatre is maybe not the best choice.. but we'll see.

But first, today another book beginnings and page 56 of a book that I'm planning on reading soon. I've been having a HUGE romance, drama binge, but I still haven't found THAT book, you know.. the one that makes me so emotional and heart-broken. I want one of those, but I haven't found it yet.
So I'm planning on taking a break to read this book first, because it seems like such an awesome read !! So, without further ado..

FIRST Sentence.
"You may think you know the story. It goes like this: once upon a time, there was a sixteen-year-old girl named Jane Grey, who was forced to marry a complete stranger (Lord Guildford or Gilford or Gifford-something-or-other), and shortly thereafter found herself ruler of a country. She was queen for nine days. Then she literally lost her head.
Yes, it's a tragedy, if you consider the disengagement of one's head from one;s body tragic. (We are merely narrators, and would hate to make assumptions as to what the reader would find tragic.)
We have a different tale to tell."

PAGE 56.
"Afternoon transformed into evening, and it seemed less likely that a horrible catastrophe would befall the Dudley family and save Jane from her fate. The Gown went on, the green velvet headdress went up, and Jane's hopes went down.
The worst part?
No books.
Between all the hair plaiting and gown adjusting, Jane let her fingers frift across the book spines on the shelves of the library. History, philosophy, and science: her favorite things. Things that would save her if the wedding got boring.
"No books." Lady Frances smacked Jane's hand away from the gilt-lettered spines. "I will not have my daughter say her vows from behind a dusty old book."

And once again, I'm not going to tell you much more about it, so if you're interested you should look it up and get started !

Comments

  1. I'm on the fence about this one. I want to read it, yet I fear once I grab it, it'll languish on my Kindle. So many books to read!

  3. I absolutely love the voice in the teasers! This sounds like a fantastic read. I really want to see the new Alice too. I saw the first one and enjoyed it but it wasn't quite as bizarre as I wanted it to be. I have a feeling that won't be a problem with this one!
