The FRIDAY 56 & Book Beginnings. 12.02.16.

Yet another Friday ! Hooray almost weekend people !! So for this week meme’s I’ve got a great book I just started reading yesterday !! So, like last week, I’ve combined my Friday 56 with Friday Book Beginnings !! So check it out !!

First off, we start with the The Friday 56, a weekly meme hosted by Freda’s Voice
.

THE RULES.
ONE. Grap a book, any book
TWO. Turn to page 56 or 56% in case of an e-reader
THREE. Find any sentence (or a few, just no spoilers) that grabs your attention
FOUR. Post it
FIVE. Add the URL to your post to the link on Freda’s Voice most recent Friday 56 post

I’m combining this one with The Friday Book Beginnings, hosted by Rose City Reader

The rules of this one are pretty simple, you share the first sentence of the book that you are reading and share your thoughts, impressions etc. on this. And of course, don’t forget to share your URL on the Rose City Reader !

To me, this book turned into an emotional read very fast. Not only that though, but because you don’t really know what happened to the main character when you start this book, you have to stay alert. This makes you very watchful of everything that happens, so you get a bigger view of the puzzle, piece by piece. I really prefer this kind of NA instead of knowing straight away.

FIRST Sentence.
I just moved. Not from one town to another, but from one end of the couch to the other end. I don’t usually sit on this side, but I’m trying to listen in on the apartment next door. I’m rather particular about where I sit because I like things to be to the left of me. I need to be able to see what’s there.

56%.
But then, in the midst of it all, I see her. My mom. She is in the far corner of the courtyard. She lies on a chaise longue. She smokes a cigarette. I’ve never seen my mom smoke a cigarette. I lean over the railing to peer down at her. I hear her then. She muffles a sob with the crook of her elbow, and I can see her body spasm as the emotions rip through her.
My mom is breaking down in the jasmine-scented courtyard of Paradise Manor on an almost-summer night.
She tries so hard, but she can’t do it all. Tonight, I see what trying to do it all has done to her.

I hope I made you a bit curious about this book.. ^^ Have a nice weekend everybody !!

  2. Sounds like a book with plenty of drama. I almost always enjoy stories that explore the daughter-mother relationship. I don't know if you're a "Big Bang" fan or not, but the opening made me think of Sheldon and his spot.
My Friday post features THE HURRICANE SISTERS.

  4. Very curious! It seems like the book is going to be really emotional and have real drama. Sometimes those are good when you want to take a break from the usual.

  9. Ooh, these memes sound fun! And that does sound like an emotional read, just from those two quotes you shared. I've seen the book around a lot but don't actually know what it's about, so now I am curious.
